Maintaining a SECO Quick Release pole

Tech Tip Number: 27
Created: January 1, 2001

There is little maintenance of the Quick Release Series Poles other than keeping screws tight and occasionally adjusting the Tension Adjusting Screw.

Parts should be clean and dry. Never use oil lubricant like WD-40 or a spray silicone.

The locking works by spring pressure forcing a Fricton Pad into the sliding inner.

The locking can be improved by:

1. Tightening the Tension Adjusting Screw (using a 1/8 Allen Key) clockwise until the inner holds the weight of your prism.

2. Replacing the Spring.

3. Replacing the Friction Pad.

4. Combination of 1, 2, & 3. See parts drawing.
